His new "recess appointments" are just an expansion of the power of the executive branch. Obama is taking power away from the Senate. This is in clear violation of the Constitution, and you cannot deny it. However, Obama does it anyway.
Obama extended the Patriot Act. Unconstitutional.
Obama approved of the NDAA. Unconstitutional.
Obama’s intervention in Libya. Unconstitutional.
I can name many more Obama violations of the Constitution.
Why do you support him if he constantly violates the Law of the Land?
(Note: I bet most liberals can’t answer this question without attacking me for being conservative. For the record, I am not a Republican and I support Ron Paul, who is the modern champion of the Constitution. Now please explain why you support a Constitution-violater)
EDIT: Watch, liberals are going to start blaming Bush for the Patriot Act. Ask yourselves why Obama chose to extend the damn thing and tear the Constitution apart
Dude, George Washington made the first recess appointment.
Well it all comes down to how you interpret the constitution, this has been the debate for over 2 centuries. Good luck proving that he is interrupting the constitution wrong. Many people interpret it how it best suits them.
I guess word out is Obama could get impeached for one of those. I hope so!
I like the part where you pretend to know what the Constitution says about anything. If you like most Ron Paul supporters, you know next to nothing.
Recess appointments aren’t unconstitutional. The GOP Senators refusing to provide consent and advice on nominees is MORE constitutionally problematic.
The Patriot Act might be unconstitutional in its provisions, but the manner in which it was extended was clearly legal.
Ditto NDAA.
The War Powers Act was complied with in Libya. I guess you wanted a declaration of war? But that’s not what Libya was.
No, you can’t.
Obama isn’t the first to do these things. And he won’t be the last.
Not excusing it. But singling out Obama is just plain wrong.
Ron Paul, well, we’ll see if he REALLY does follow the Constitution. And if he’s got the backbone to stand up to Congress to have them go along with it. My guess, that last part will not happen. And, as right as he might be, he’ll be left in the dust.
Recess appointments are not a violation of the Constitution. Trying to keep Congress from recessing by gaveling in and gaveling out once every three days might be, though. Do you really want to take this to the Supreme Court to find out?
Patriot Act — passed by Congress, not overruled by Supreme Court, constitutional (for the time being, at least)
NDAA — passed by Congress, not overruled by Supreme Court, constitutional (for the time being, at least)
Intervention in Libya. Upholding UN charter treaty, which was already approved by Congress decades ago, constitutional
You will need to name many more violations to make the claim that Obama is acting unconstitutionally. So far, you’ve only proven your ignorance about the Constitution and US law.
Lmao! You Conservatives are funny people who no brains. Politicians from both sides are corrupt. Even your Reagan who sold illegal military hardware to the Iranians terrorist who never got impeach in 1986 while Bill Clinton gets impeach because he lied to the judge & relationship Monica Lewinsky? And buy other way, FDR is my boy not Obama.
Last I checked, the Supreme Court decides what is and isn’t constitutional. And since the SC is no friend of Obama I don’t think they would waste a second ruling against him.
Because he’s not doing anything presidents before him haven’t done a ton of times already:
-Recess appointments by Reagan — 240. Recess appointments by Obama — 39. Why don’t you come crying about his overreach once he has surpassed Reagan?
-John Adams instituted the Alien and Sedition Act, Bush instituted the Patriot Act — and I’ll bet you didn’t say one word against it at the time.
-The U.S. joined a U.N. coalition for dealing with Libya; it was not a unilateral action, and was well within Constitutional jurisprudence.
A better question might be “How come Obama is doing all this unconstitutional stuff and all 289 Republicans in Congress are too dumb or too lazy to do anything about it?”
Your question demonstrates that EITHER you believe Obama has “superpowers” and is able to underhandedly “neuter” the GOP, OR that in reality you understand he hasn’t actually violated the Constitution…
If recess appointments are Unconstitutional then you could blame every president since George Washington. They all have done it, some more than others. Obama has made 32 recess appointments. Reagan did 274 of them, Clinton did 140 of them, Bush Jr. did 175 of them.
I would agree the Patriot Act is unconstitutional and that point was brought up when Bush Jr. made it law. Where was your outrage then? And you should not be so naive to think that once you give power away it is a very difficult thing to take back.
NDAA at face value is unconstitutional. But Obama with his signing statement greater softened the effect.
Libya intervention was not. Congress was notified, no US ground troops ever set foot in Libya.
And Ron Paul has a couple of good ideas regarding some financial policies (the gold standard NOT being one of those) but the other 98% of his philosophy is old, utopian, fantasy land stuff more suited for the 15th century than now.
