Manchester United’s odds of retaining the Champions League this year have slipped to 4/1 following last night’s unexpected draw at home to Porto.
The champions had entered the Quarter Finals as the 2/1 favourites to regain the big trophy but now have a tough fight on their hands to even make the last four as they travel to a club who has never lost at home to a British team and will be protecting two precious away goals. United are now 5/6, the same price as Porto, to make the semi-finals but had been as short as 2/9 to progress prior to the Tuesday night set-back.
In contrast, Arsenal’s scoring draw at Villarreal now makes them 3/10 to reach the semis and 5/1 from 15/2 to win the tournament.
Hamburg v Man City
Thursday is the blue half of Manchester’s turn in Europe when Man City travel to Hamburg. Mark Hughes’ team are 4/1 joint favourites with Werder Bremen to win the UEFA Cup but due to their poor away record this season 11/4 outsiders to win the first leg of the Hamburg tie in Germany.
